| Anattitude Magazine | About |
WHAT IS ANATTITUDE?Anattitude magazine - founded in 2005 - is the first and only existing international Hip Hop magazine on print, to present the female side of Hip Hop culture. Intended as an antidote to the onesided, boring, even nonexistent representation of contemporary female Hip Hop culture in the media, Anattitude presents strong independent women from around the Hip Hop world with a special focus on the variety of gender styles. Anattitude presents knowledge and style with attitude! Anattitude has an international and diverse readership accross Europe, the US and Canada - half of which is actually male. Anattitude is for people who are interested in keeping a Hip Hop culture alive. It is also for people who want to be surprised and inspired with fresh points of view, for people interested in design and photography. Anattitude gives the readers information about females in Hip Hop culture, which you can’t find anywhere else combined with a dope graphic design and photography. Lack of information was the reason to build up this big magazine project. Anattitude appears once a year with a special theme like “Paris Hip Hop” or “Old School Hip Hop.“ Anattitude features international contributors from Britain to Bulgaria. Anattitude was founded by Jeannette Petri in 2005. While studying Fine Arts in Germany with a main focus on photography and video she started her Hip Hop career as Jee-Nice spinning the wheels of steel with only female spitters in 2000. She bought every female MC rapping on a 12 inch she could find around the globe and made the people dance. One main idea of her work becomes the presentation of the forgotten history of female Hip Hop. She started her history research in 2003 with the reader “Here’s a little story that must be told” as well as her Women in Hip Hop timeline of the same title. Next step was the birth of Anattitude! Anattitude is interested in colaboration and other projects who have an attitude. Feel free to contact Anattitude : contact(at)anattitude.net. |
